QUANTUM DOMAIN ROADMAP TO VALUE WORKSHOP

Roundtables for Computing, Sensing, Communications, and materials

Tuesday, September 26th from 1:00 - 5:00 PM

charting a roadmap to a quantum-ready future, across domains, together.

At Quantum World Congress 2023, participants will discuss opportunities for increased cross-sector collaboration. Participants will form roundtables with their peers to discuss a set of challenges and roadmap questions focused on one of four quantum domains: computing, sensing, communications, and materials. Workshops will consist of breakouts with facilitators.

The workshop is scheduled for September 26th, 2023 – 1:00PM to 5:00PM ET. Space for the Domain Workshop is limited — you can note your interest when you register for Quantum World Congress 2023. Information on how to sign up if you are already registered is below.

The program below is subject to change.

Workshop Details

  • During the workshop session, participants will be provided with an introduction to the agenda, followed by the formation of domain-specific breakout groups led by experts in that field. These breakouts will involve discussion opportunities with experts, practitioners, and executives in the various domains of Quantum technology and research.

The discussions within the workshop and breakout groups will center around topics like:

    • Identifying Primary Obstacles

      • What are the main technical and scientific hurdles impeding the progress of research and development within your quantum domain?

      • What factors are currently inhibiting the widespread adoption of quantum technologies in the larger field of relevance?

    • Overcoming Challenges in Progression:

      • Recognizing that the journey from laboratory innovation to practical implementation is laden with obstacles, what strategies can be employed to attract and nurture the right talent?

      • How can funding limitations be addressed to provide adequate support for quantum R&D initiatives?

      • Acquiring clients and fostering collaboration in research can be intricate processes. What collaborative models or strategies might alleviate these challenges?

    • Posing Grand Challenge Questions:

      • What overarching questions, if tackled, could significantly expedite the advancement of quantum technologies within your domain?

    • Envisioning Progress by Fall 2024:

      • Projecting into the near future, envision substantial progress within your quantum domain by Fall 2024. What key developments and milestones need to be achieved within the next year to make this vision a reality?

    • Setting Ambitious Milestones:

      • Considering both ambition and realism, outline milestones for your domain for various time frames—3 years, 5 years, and 10 years. What achievements are attainable and would mark substantial progress?

  • Bottlenecks and translational difficulties are problems that quantum researchers, policymakers, and the private sector all face. To better understand and overcome these obstacles, tackling the various choke points of knowledge transfer and application possibilities across the domains of quantum materials, sensors, and computers is vital. This workshop will aim to start generating solutions to these problems.

  • This workshop is open to all QWC registrants. It is geared towards quantum professionals across academia, industry, government, and investment with a solid grounding in the scientific, technical, and/or engineering aspects of the quantum domain (computing, sensing, communications, materials) workshop that they sign up for.

  • The workshop is scheduled for September 26th, 2023 – 1:00PM to 5:00PM ET.

  • There are limited seats available for each workshop. Participants will be assigned to a table. Seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please select your workshop when you register for Quantum World Congress 2023.
