Dr. Lara Jehi, Cleveland Clinic [Moderator]
Ebba Carbonnier, Swedish Quantum Life Science Centre
George Thomas, Connected DMV
Dr. Jehi is professor of neurology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, and Chief Research Information Officer for the Cleveland Clinic Health System. In this role, she works closely with information technology, research, finance and other departments to organize and optimize the Cleveland Clinic's digital infrastructure and computational research strategy to better support research activities and accelerate new treatments for patients. She is currently spearheading multi-institutional National Institutes of Health-funded grants focused on data science, and individualized outcome prediction. She is the principal investigator of Cleveland Clinic’s Bio-repository, and the Executive Program Lead for the Discovery Accelerator, a strategic partnership between Cleveland Clinic and IBM to accelerate research and innovation leveraging high performance computing, artificial intelligence and Quantum computing. She is the vice-chair of Cleveland Clinic’s Institutional Review Board, Chair of Cleveland Clinic’s center for Computational Life Sciences, and Chair of Cleveland Clinic’s Data Advisory Council. She chairs several key commissions in national and international professional societies, has more than 190 peer-reviewed publications, 10 book chapters and is a regular reviewer for NIH study sections. In addition to her medical training in epilepsy, she holds a Master’s degree in Health Care Delivery Science from Dartmouth College.
Ebba Carbonnier. Director of the Swedish Quantum Life Science Centre.Karolinska Institutet and Swelife. Ebba Carbonnier serves as the Director of the Swedish Quantum Life Science Centre, based at the Karolinska Institute. In her role, Carbonnier leads a consortium of academics, healthcare professionals, and industry representatives from organizations such as the Wallenberg Center for Quantum Technology (WACQT), AstraZeneca, IBM, Karolinska Institute and Swelife, who work together to develop quantum technology applications for healthcare and industry.Carbonnier also works with the strategy and management of a portfolio with national projects in healthcare and life sciences, including gene sequencing, cell- and therapies, and biobanking. Prior to her work at Karolinska Institutet, Carbonnier amassed 14 years of management consulting experience, where she created strategies, managed multidisciplinary teams and implemented large-scale multinational projects for global companies such as AstraZeneca, Microsoft, and Sandvik. Carbonnier holds an MSc and an MBA with a focus on Operations Management.
George is a co-founder and serves as Chief Innovation Officer for Connected DMV, a public-private nonprofit regional collaborative based in Greater Washington. George serves as the Executive Director of the Potomac Quantum Innovation Center (PQIC), leads the Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS), and is the Chief Architect for the Quantum World Congress initiatives of Connected DMV. George founded New Urban Informatics in 2016, a boutique advisory firm, providing expertise to some of the most innovative companies and governments focused on emerging technologies and Smart Cities. Previously, George served as Partner and Global Director at IBM, and held senior positions with the management, business consulting and engineering practices of Hatch, Metamor, and Mott MacDonald respectively. In these roles, he led several global multi-million-dollar engagements covering complex implementations in finance, human resources, supply chain, reengineering, process improvement, and core engineering projects. George is a thought leader and adviser to public and private sector organizations in the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia. George has helped clients develop successful strategies and execute transformational projects in business operations, capital improvement, enterprise processes and applications, organizational change, and strategic planning. George is a recognized industry expert at the intersection of technology and business in areas such as AI/ML, analytics, smart cities, optimization & simulation, web3, IOT, quantum, and cloud computing. George is a mentor, board member and coach to several start-ups and innovative companies. He is a regular speaker at conferences and events including at the C40 Mayor’s Conferences, TEDx, Chambers of Commerce, the American Institute of Architects, Smart City Expo, US Infrastructure Week, the World Bank, and the United Nations. George holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering and Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
