WORKSHOP: Scenario planning session

This workshop, Implications of Adversarial Quantum Financial Disruptions, is a scenario planning session aiming to address preparedness, coordination, responsibility, and economic resilience.

Join us for a scenario planning session to prepare for adversaries leveraging quantum for maligned purposes. If a hostile nation deploys new quantum capabilities and disrupts global financial systems to incite a situation worse than the 2007 - 2008 financial crisis, strong international coordination efforts are required to revive the economy.

The session will try and address:

• Preparedness: Formulate early-stage preparedness plans and countermeasures to nefarious deployments of quantum across financial sectors.

• Coordination: Improve cross-border public-private coordination mechanisms to mitigate vulnerabilities and opportunities for maligned actors.

• Responsibility: Promote responsible use cases for quantum across the finance industry.

• Economic Resilience: Maintain market stability and economic growth as quantum capabilities advance over the next 10 years.

The scenario planning session will include fluctuating periods of open group discussions and private team deliberations. The specific scenarios and team assignments are kept confidential before the session to promote real-time responses and collaboration among participants. All conversations are held strictly under the Chatham House Rule. Anonymized findings and a private after-action report will be shared with attendees after the session.
