Quantum is Now with IonQ: Building a Large Global Quantum Business (Quantum World Congress 2024)

Peter Chapman, IonQ President and CEO, and Dean Kassmann, IonQ SVP of Engineering and Technology, presented on the main stage at Quantum World Congress 2024 in their plenary session, entitled “Quantum is Now with IonQ: Building a Large Global Quantum Business.” They presented perspectives on the quantum industry and shared exciting new business and technical developments that are accelerating quantum innovation at IonQ. They discussed how IonQ is innovating at the intersection of performance, scale and enterprise-grade technology. Specifically:

  • How IonQ is building a large, global quantum business

  • A new expanded $9M contract that IonQ signed with the University of Maryland

  • IonQ’s continued commercial momentum: Hyundai, GE Research, U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, Airbus, Advanced Research Lab for Information Security (ARLIS), Amazon Braket

  • IonQ’s progress against commercial system deliveries: U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) system, QuantumBasel Forte Enterprise build

The company also highlighted how the company’s technical strategy is pushing the industry towards enterprise-grade quantum computing. Topics discussed include:

  • The attainment of a new technical milestone: Ion-Ion entanglement, supporting photonic networking development

  • Expanded information on Barium qubit performance metrics attained by IonQ

  • 99.9%+ 2 qubit gate (2QG) fidelity - a 4X improvement over IonQ’s current commercially available 2QG fidelities

  • 50 us gate speed - a 12X improvement over IonQ’s current commercially available 2 qubit gate speeds

  • Expanded information on IonQ’s error correction breakthrough, CliNR
