Advancing Global Strategic Partnerships

Information for Delegates

Quantum World Congress’ International Forum: Advancing Global Strategic Partnerships will occur on the pre-conference day, November 29th. It’s a moderated workshop for government representatives to share information and explore ways to advance global collaboration efforts around quantum. Delegation participants (see below) include individuals from national quantum science, technology, and innovation government agencies; science, economic development, policy, and innovation attaches from embassies; and quasi-governmental agencies and organizations. A limited number of Quantum World Congress attendees are invited to observe.

Workshop Details

  • The forum will be a facilitated group discussion. No prepared presentations are expected, however active participation is encouraged. Notes will be captured during the meeting and key takeaways and actions summarized in a post-event report. No direct attributions will be made without prior consent.

  • Please see below for the general flow of topics that will be covered. Deviations and additions to questions may occur to allow for an organic discussion flow:

    Role of National Quantum Programs:

    • What are some of the priority programs that your teams are developing? What surprises have you encountered in your efforts to create a vibrant national network and capability for quantum?

    • Which sectors stand to benefit greatly, and how is your government supporting these efforts? Do your efforts emphasize specific quantum domain(s) – if so, which ones?

Coordination of Education Programs and Alignment of Talent to Industry Needs:

    • Quantum skills are scarce, and the quantum ecosystem’s need for talent includes more than physics Ph.Ds. As we work to balance talent needs with national workforce demands, how should we think about skills development and skills rotation among your countries?

    • How do we enable, expand, and coordinate content development, education and exchange programs, and lifelong learning opportunities?

    Supply Chains, Standards, and Regulations:

    • What do you see as the most critical risks, constraints, and gaps in the quantum technology supply chain?

    • How do we balance the need for guardrails for quantum technology development via policies and standards with the need for industry to innovate and commercialize rapidly?

Sustaining Investment and Increasing Value through Collaborative Investments:

    • How would you characterize the scope and focus of investments in quantum made by your governments – both at the national and regional level?

    • What insights can you share about investments made by industry participants and multinational corporations?

    • How can we better coordinate investments between these channels?

    • How can we best balance between investments that drive commercial growth and those needed for national security?

Opportunities and Challenges to Accelerate and Scale Bilateral and Multilateral Collaboration:

    • There are many bilateral and multilateral relationships and agreements in place. Are these collaborations working as envisioned? How can coordination be improved?

    • How can forums such as this one help advance our collective mission to deliver tangible and market-ready quantum solutions? Would additional structure and regular meetings be helpful?

  • Government participants are confirmed. There are limited seats available for observers. Interested attendees are encouraged to register for the Quantum World Congress 2022 website.

  • The forum will be moderated by Mr. George Thomas, Chief Innovation Officer of Connected DMV.

  • Registration: The Registration Desk will open at 8:00 AM. After checking in, proceed to Atrium Ballroom B by 8:45 AM. Please identify yourself as a delegate to the door staff.

Lunch & Networking: Boxed lunches will be available for delegates and observers in Atrium Ballroom A (12:00 – 1:00 PM). Please stay for a networking event immediately following the forum.
